About

BEGINNING COUNSELING Taking the step to begin counseling can be quite difficult. People are usually curious and apprehensive about many aspects of the counseling journey before they decide to begin. They generally wonder what therapy may be like, if the therapist is going to be a good fit, and many other things. Having an initial phone consultation is a good way to get many of these questions answered. The initial phone call is free of charge. During the initial phone conversation you will likely be asked for basic information so that a general description of your current struggles can be identified and the best course of treatment can be determined. APPOINTMENT The first appointment is typically 50-55 minutes long. During this initial appointment you will be able to discuss what brought you to counseling and what your hopes are for counseling. We will also get to know one another a bit. These things will help to better determine if we are a good fit to move forward with therapy. Moving forward, therapy sessions are 50-55 minutes in length and typically occur once a week. This is discussed normally in the first meeting to ensure the treatment is best for you. If at any point we determine that we are not a good fit, you will be referred to someone who may be a better fit and may have more expertise in a given area. RATES & INSURANCE My standard fee is $120 per 50 minute session, though I am able to negotiate an adjusted fee upon request during the first appointment. I am currently in network with only BCBS and HealthChoice insurances. PHILOSOPHY I believe that people are more than the sum of a set of symptoms and strives to incorporate the whole person into the therapeutic process. I believe that healing occurs through the relationship between the therapist and the individual. I am committed to being a therapist that listens, challenges you, and is a consistent source of support as you begin your journey of personal and relational betterment. I strive to create a safe and nonjudgemental environment in which the individuals I work with can explore their pain and distresses while also working to create meaning and growth. EDUCATION AND TRAINING I have been a therapist since 2017. I have experience working in outpatient, inpatient, hospital, community mental health, and school settings since 2013. My primary areas of focus and clinical experience includes helping adults with anxiety, depression, self esteem, anger, health issues (illness and injury), relational issues/stresses, life transitions, grief, loss (relational and death), and trauma. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Southern Nazarene University. I participated in a clinical internship with the Deer Creek public school counseling services along with a clinical internship with Mid Del Youth and Family Services. I also completed a year-long course of Foundations of Psychoanalytic Thought through the Oklahoma Society for Psychoanalytic Studies and have served as the treasurer for the Oklahoma Society for Psychoanalytic Studies since 2020.
